GRR: Heart of America
One of the intriguing matchups in the CRAA Fall Classic this weekend in Spartanburg, SC is the D1AA All-Star Bowl.
The Iowa State Cyclones defeated the University of Iowa Haweyes 43-19 to win the Heart of America championship this past weekend.
Meanwhile, Kansas and Kansas State tied their 3rd-4th match. The game was supposed to be resolved with overtime, but a nasty injury, and the time it took to treat the player, led to the teams taking the tie instead.
It's an all-Iowa final for the Heart of America after last weekend's semifinals, and we get a rematch of Week #1 in the the final day of competition.
On a cold and rainy afternoon in Minneapolis, the Iowa State Cyclones defeated the Minnesota Gophers 57-7 in Heart of America action.
The game started with ISU stealing the opening kickoff, running through the phases quickly, and putting senior prop Nolan LeBreck in under the sticks. Senior flyhalf Justin Johnson added the extras to make it 7-0 two minutes into the game.
The Heart of America Conference kicks off with Iowa State at Iowa on Friday, but there’s plenty more to come.
