We actually had a lot of thinking to do about this. Yes, of course, Kentucky is #1. The Wildcats were wire-to-wire this fall and there wasn't much doubt most of the season that they should be. Only their weird 8-7 SCRC final against Clemson sowed any doubt. But the final ... well the final sealed the deal.
Saturday was not Bowling Green's day.
A strong Falcons side that had played well through the fall did not bring its A-game against a Kentucky team that was firing nicely. The result, in this NCR D1AA final was an emphatic Kentucky Wildcat repeat, 57-14.
Saturday's NCR Finals action gives us Kentucky looking for a repeat and Bowling Green trying to get back to the heights they hit in 2018.
Kentucky has been the #1 team in the SCRC all season and there didn't seem to be much doubt about that ... until the conference final.
The two top NCR D1AA teams from this fall are in this weekend's final, but spare a thought for two teams that were just inches away.
Louisville didn't even make the NCR playoffs, as the MAC only received one sed to the NCR knockouts. So it was all or nothing in the final. Louisville played Bowling Green twice, losing in the regular season 28-27 and 34-33 in the MAC final.
