GRR: Arizona
The University of Arizona has been creeping every closer to its rivals this year.
But that progress has been seen in competitive losses, one to BYU and one to Cal. March 4's very, very close win over UCLA also kind of his the Wildcats' progress. But this week, Arizona beat Colorado 56-12 in emphatic fashion.
Arizona pushed Cal 36-17 Saturday in PAC Rugby Conference action.
The result took Cal to 9-0 and to 3-0 in the conference, which the Bears have now clinched, but it was also notable for how close it was, as a Wildcat team that was beaten soundly by Cal a year ago were within a score with 20 minutes to go.
Tempe took it to Red Mountain to win the Arizona Boys HS D1 state championship Saturdaym defeating their longtime rivals 64-12.
The setting couldn’t have been better for another chapter of the intense rivalry game, with beautiful weather, perfect green grass pitch (not normal for AZ), and everything on the line for the state championship.
Cal and UCLA went 3-0 Saturday in the PAC Rugby 7s Saturday.
Here's a look at what happened in men's college rugby this weekend.
