GRR: SOC Raptors
Thunder Rugby backed up last week's 3rd-place win in SoCal with a 2-0 performance at the Pacific Invitational this weekend.
Thunder beat a very tough SFGG side 34-32 on Day One. The Thunder forwards got their team on the board first, and SFGG responded, and that exvhange was a harbinger of how the game would go.
Somehow Belmont Shore did it.
Really, it wasn’t as if Shore was playing poorly, but after a loss to the touring Woodlands side from Texas and then in the regular season to the San Diego Mustangs, as well as a very nervy and close semifinal to the SOC Raptors, they were not favorites to win the SoCal Boys HS Club final this past weekend.
It's tightening up in the SoCal Youth Rugby Boys HS Club league.
The San Diego Mustangs beat Belmont Shore 29-14—details below—and that's got people talking.
Meanwhile, Try-Time has inched their way into third in the league at 3-1. Now, there are some big games coming up for Try Time, as they will face the Mustangs and SOC Raptors.
In a meeting of two of the top HS Clubs in Southern California, the San Diego Mustangs defeated the SOC Raptors 31-21.
The Mustang halfback combination of Spencer Huntley at scrumhalf and Rocco Pool at flyhalf produced the fireworks. Huntley accounted for nearly all of the scoring for the Mustangs with three tries, four conversions, and a penalty goal for 26 points on his own.
SOC Raptors, Belmont Shore, and the San Diego Mustangs all won in Southern California's HS Club season as all three moved to 2-0.
For Belmont Shore, the defending HS Club National Champion, their win was fairly straightforward, 59-0 over Rancho Cucamonga and a rebound from a close loss to touring Woodlands earlier in the week.
