GRR: Penn State
Kutztown University opened their Rugby East account with a fairly straightforward 95-8 win over West Virginia.
The Mountaineers are somewhat down this year so Kutztown was favored to win, but it was important for the Golden Bears to get their young players started on a winning note. The scoreline shows that there’s talent all through the lineup.
Penn State put down something of a marker Thursday with an impressive 32-10 defeat of Queens University in Canada.
Queens led early, scoring a try to answer Jimmy Ronin’s penalty to go ahead 5-3. But a lineout and maul led to Chris Burian’s try and Ronin’s conversion to put PSU up 10-3. Burian’s line break set up another Ronin penalty.
Expectations at Penn State are high as the Nittany Lions men's team starts the 2016-17 season.
USA 15s WNT Coach Pete Steinberg has named his starting lineup to face France on Friday in Salt Lake City.
Pool Play is over at the Men’s CRC Saturday and the teams that have been there before showed their class.
