Penn State prop Hope Rogers has been named as the first-ever MA Sorensen Award Winner as the best women’s college rugby player in the country.
The award, presented by the Washington Athletic Club of Seattle, Wash. in conjunction with Goff Rugby Report, will be formally presented at a gala event on June 11.
Dartmouth College shocked pretty much everyone Saturday in beating Penn State in the opening round of the Varsity Cup.
“Nobody thought we would win,” said Dartmouth Head Coach Gavin Hickie, without a shade a bitterness. “Nobody, that is, except us.”
While most college students spent their Spring Break on vacation or lounging at home, Penn State traveled to another country to experience different styles of game play outside the USA.
From March 9-12, Penn State played against three Italian teams during their Italy Tour: Monza, Valsugana, and Cogoleto. The Nittany Lions remained victorious during the entirety of their stay.
Penn State enjoyed a torrid middle part of the game to defeated Indiana University 48-32, handing IU their first loss in the 2015-16 season.
In a tight and fairly dramatic clash between two very old rivals, Navy edged Penn State 24-20 in a non-conference game.
