GRR: College Men
While this past week's results didn't really change the top rankings, we do have some shifts further down in our Spring D1AA Top 25.
What a weekend.
Saint Mary's beat Cal Poly 43-38. Central Washington beat UCLA 47-41. Navy beat Penn State 29-26. Arizona beat BYU 32-22. So much fun. We're very happy to have been at UCLA vs CWU in-person.
It's easy to overlook a consequential result when so many exciting games happened in D1A over the weekend, but it's important not to miss that Arizona beat BYU 32-22.
Arizona has been taking steps to show their improvement, but those steps were somewhat obscured by the fact they lost those games.
Cal Poly pushed Saint Mary's in a rather surprising meeting of the top two teams in the California D1A Conference, but the Gaels held on 43-38.
The game started well for the Gaels. They moved into Cal Poly territory and spun it wide to freshman Aisake Tukuafu, who sped in to touch down. Ollie Cline slotted the extras and it was 7-0.
Since we were late in previewing this weekend in D1AA, we will be looking at the weekend in terms of hindsight.
FloridaCentral Florida beat Florida 38-26 to improve to 3-2. Scrumhalf Jaxson Patterson and wing James White each scored two tries for the Knights, while captain and inside center Jack Puchalski and his center partner William Boundy each added one.
