In yet another exciting FYRU High School crossover match, Weston Rugby traveled up to Boca Raton to face the Buccaneers on their home turf. Just as the week before, both teams faced 90-plus temperatures in the scorching Florida sun.
In a tough hard-nosed clash in Northern Florida, the Daytona Beach Li’l Nuts edged the Cape Pirates 8-6 in a result that will be very good news to Orlando.
“As the season goes on the tackling gets better, we see it every year, and that was definitely true this week,” said Daytona Coach Trent Veseley. “We needed a big defensive effort today.”
Orlando has replaced Kahuku HS in the Boys National Invitational Championship after Kahuku opted to play in a west coast invitational instead, and the move is, in the end, jut reward for an improving Orlando team that earned some measure of revenge this past weekend over Daytona.
The Florida Youth Rugby North pool got even more embroiled in complications this past weekend with the Cape Pirates' 19-10 defeat of previously unbeaten Daytona.
During the Fort Lauderdale Ruggerfest this past weekend, the Florida Juice boys HS select-side program held a North v South all-star game.
