GRR: Deep South HS
The finalists for the Deep South HS Rugby Championship are set as the Bayou Hurricanes and Jesuit of New Orleans Blue Jays both won semifinals.
The Jesuit-New Orleans Blue Jays have secured a place in the Deep South HS league semifinals thanks in part to this past Saturday's 31-14 win over Shreveport.
The Bayou Hurricanes continued their winning ways on Saturday with a 47-5 defeat of West Jefferson.
The Hurricanes struck first with stalwart Zavier Triplett at outside center touching down, and then fullback Alvin Delaune adding another. Triplett scored his second, and then wing Shane Wright, wing Demery Rener, and Delaune again scored before the break.
The Bayous Hurricanes continued their winning ways in the Deep South HS league, defeating a tough New Orleans Barbarians team 39-0 in Gretna, La. Saturday.
With a 50-14 defeat of Niceville, the NOLA Barbarians now sit at 5-1 and in 2nd place in the Deep South.
(We have updated our article on Jesuit of New Orleans, which is 4-1 and has a good shot at 2nd, but the Barbarians are 2nd at present.)
