GRR: Big 10 Conference
Two of the Midwest’s oldest rivals went at it tooth and nail on Saturday with Bowling Green State University dominating Ohio State in a 44 – 22 victory at Bowling Green’s College Park Rugby Field.
The Big Ten Universities Conference starts play this weekend and the big issue is, of course, the fact that Indiana is no longer serving a punishment and is eligible for the playoffs.
It all seemed like a bit of a wasted opportunity last season as IU finished top of the standings, but could not move on to the conference playoffs. Maybe their chance was missed?
Ohio State looked impressive Saturday with a 57-7 victory over the University of Pittsburgh.
Flanker Corey Harmon scored three tries for the Buckeyes and scrumhalf Ian Hildebrandt scored two and set up two more.
The Big Ten Universities men’s rugby Conference kicks off on September 19 with nine teams in the conference.
Eight qualifiers are chosen for the USA Rugby Men’s DI College 7s Championships in Denver, with three of those also getting automatic bids to the CRC invitational in Chester, Pa. a week later.
