GRR: Big 10 Conference
Dublin, Ohio—The stage is set for the 2024 Big Ten Universities Rugby Conference Championship tournament beginning on Saturday, October 26, 2024, with higher seeds hosting semifinal matches in both the Championship Cup and Bowl brackets.
In a game that had a somewhat winner-take-all (OK,, not all, but a lot) feel about it, Ohio State defeated Michigan 69-21 Friday night in Columbus, Ohio.
The victory ensured for the Buckeyes a place in the Big 10 semifinals, while Michigan will now be playing in the 5th-place semis.
Three conference games and two non-conference games have us at GRR World Headquarters looking at the Big 10.
Non-conference games include Ohio State vs Tennessee and Illinois vs McKendree
The Big 10 did actually get to start its season in its expected form last week and this week we have four games on the slate.
A week after beating Illinois, Ohio State put in a very good result over Michigan State.
The Buckeyes were led by wing Jayden Garnes, who scored two tries and set up another in a nice example of OSU playing some open-field rugby.
After something of a line in the sand was officially drawn, all teams in the Big 10 Conference will be members in USA Rugby and pay the CRAA $20-per-play fee.
