GRR: Big 10 Conference
Indiana University won the Big 10 in convincing fashion Saturday at Notre Dame, defeating Michigan State 55-21.
It’s time to wrap up the Big 10 with all eight teams participating in the Big 10’s rugby conference playing at University of Notre Dame Saturday.
Notre Dame, of course, is not a traditional Big 10 school but as recent shifts in college sports have sent traditional conference associations into turmoil, the Fighting Irish are much more Big 10 than many others.
The Big 10 matchups for the semis are all set even though there's a week to go in the regular season.
Indiana cannot lose their #1 spot in the Big 10 West even if they lose to Purdue (which they are not expected to do). That's because the Hoosiers have the tiebreaker over Illinois.
Michigan State clinched the #1 seed out of the Big 10 East going into the Big 10 semifinals with a convincing 32-19 victory over rivals Michigan State.
This is the annual rivalry match between the two teams, known as the Battle for the Mitten, and with the result MSU is 3-0 in Big 10 East action.
NCR's D1 playoff picture ...
Ten teams will be in the playoff, with four teams participating in play-in games on November 11, and six teams going directly to the quarterfinals on November 18.
