GRR: Bayou Hurricanes
Texas-based Katy Barbarians traveled to New Orleans, La. this weekend to take on defending Louisiana Rugby champs Bayou Hurricanes, and runners up New Orleans Jesuit.
The Bayou Hurricanes continued their winning ways on Saturday with a 47-5 defeat of West Jefferson.
The Hurricanes struck first with stalwart Zavier Triplett at outside center touching down, and then fullback Alvin Delaune adding another. Triplett scored his second, and then wing Shane Wright, wing Demery Rener, and Delaune again scored before the break.
The Bayous Hurricanes continued their winning ways in the Deep South HS league, defeating a tough New Orleans Barbarians team 39-0 in Gretna, La. Saturday.
The Bayou Hurricanes remained undefeated after an impressive 61-0 defeat of Brother Martin Saturday.
The Hurricanes have not played in a while and Coach greg Dinacola said it was just a relief to get on the field. Rain put the field mostly under water, but they played the game, and the Hurricanes seemed to control most of it.
It’s all still on for the Deep South playoff chase, and there’s a new competitor in town after West Jefferson won two over the weekend.
West Jeff edged Niceville and then turned right around and put over 50 on Mississippi to move from 0-3 to 2-3 in the space of two days.
