High School Boys
After a winless season in 2023-24, Charlotte Catholic has started this season 2-0 after this weekend's a 42-3 win over Corinth out of Clayton, NC.
The official score listed will be 35-0 (the North Carolina league limits winning margins to 35). This was an important win for Charlotte Catholic as last week's game ended up being a bye as Sun Valley is unable to compete this year.
The Hough Huskies finally got to play an actual rugby game in North Carolina's school league Thursday night, and celebrated a win as well.
After their first two opponents canceled on them, the Huskies were able to play against a tough Marvin Ridge side this week.
Despite an early red card to Hough, the Huskies won 27-5.
Teams interested in the Boys HS Rugby National Championships will be able to apply in early January.
This is a heads up for teams to get their ducks in a row to apply for one of the 24 spots at the event.
The 2025 Boys HS Rugby National Championships will be May 22, 23, and 24 (Thursday through Saturday) and will be held at the Moose Rugby Grounds in Elkhart, Ind.
South Meck moved to 2-0 and made an early statement in North Carolina's single-school league with an emphatic victory over Marvin Ridge.
There is still plenty of rugby to be played, but it's a solid start for South Meck as the Sabres beat Marvin Ridge 22-3.
Marvin Ridge kicked off the scoring with a 30-meter penalty kick. But South Meck answered fairly quickly.
Mira Costa HS logged a nice early result in the CIF league in Southern California this past weekend, defeating Fallbrook at Fallbrook.
It was a fairly convincing win for Mira Costa, but Head Coach Duke Dulgarian cautioned against getting too carried away with the result, saying Fallbrook is in a big rebuilding phase, which certainly appears to be the case.
