High School Boys
More and more high school leagues are getting started, and Utah Youth Rugby kicks off this weekend two weeks after the Ra Puriri Invitational, which was a nice warmup for teams in Utah and Arizona.
It's time to bring back our Gamebreakers column as boys HS rugby is now in (almost) full swing.
We saw some excellent clutch plays and strong performances around the country this past week, from West Virginia out to Southern California. Here's a look at some special efforts from High School rugby around the nation:
Sometimes it's those little moments show you something about a player, even in a losing cause.
St. Ignatius No. 8 Marty Lenehan had one of those moments this past weekend in his team's loss to the Charlotte Tigers. Lenehan, trying to light a fire under his team went on a bullocking run down the right side was grabbed and ... lost his shirt.
Advocating and working with other sports can help rugby get back on the field, especially for high school teams and leagues.
It was a successful weekend for Germantown as the Tennessee HS team traveled to Little Rock, Ark. to play the Junior Stormers and also the Kansas City Jr Blues.
In what was the first game of the season for both Germantown and KC, while the Stormers had already pitched up in a loss to Bixby.
