Shirt Ripped Off? Keep On Playing
Sometimes it's those little moments show you something about a player, even in a losing cause.
St. Ignatius No. 8 Marty Lenehan had one of those moments this past weekend in his team's loss to the Charlotte Tigers. Lenehan, trying to light a fire under his team went on a bullocking run down the right side was grabbed and ... lost his shirt.
In fact, his shirt was pulled over his head and wrapped around his face while he kept on running.
"My undershirt was over my head; I was trying to figure out which way was up," Lenehan said after the game. "I kept going and it ended up getting pulled all the way off. I just figured I'd keep playing."
And that he did. No shirt, he still kept running with the ball and continued until the whistle went and someone found his shirt for him.
It was a nice moment in the game showing how desire still means something.
As for the game overall, the 49-7 loss for St. Ignatius was humbling.
"It was fun to get back out there in the first game of the season," Lenehan said. "We found out we've got a lot of things we need to get better at. They were really tough to tackle. A big focus for us was we were going in too high. We'll take it and learn from it and work on what we need to work on."
