The first two Tier 1 games of the North Carolina school league ended with big wins for the favored teams.
NCYRU limits official listed winning margins to 35, so a 35-0 winning margin could well be larger in reality. But this allows teams to run on reserves once the result is not in doubt.
South Meck beat Clayton with the official score of 35-0 to start the season.
The Lions went 2-1 in pool play defeating the Central SA Academy 46-0 and the Mako Sharks 43-0. The Central SA team made the final in 2018.
In the final pool match the Lions lost to the Northwest Barbarians in a tight contest 19-14.
The High School 15s season is beginning this weekend.
Oh, sure, not for everyone; not even for most. But it’s starting in North Carolina and Southern California’s CIF league will be kicking off in a couple of weeks also.
The 10th annual MedStar 7s Tournament crowned five champions over the pre-Thanksgiving Weekend.
This tournament raises money for the MedStar Adaptive Sports Program, which provides physical rehab services for injured people. The program helped tournament director Gary Coetzee rehab following a serious neck injury.
It was a good Tennessee State Championship weekend for Father Ryan High School out of Nashville.
Both the boys and the girls teams took home the trophy.
