GRR: College Men
This fall we at Goff Rugby Report bring back a feature we started in the spring for high-schoolers - Gamebreakers. This feature highlights key individual controbutions by players around the country.
Molloy College, Sacred Heart, and Vassar are all 2-0 in the Tri-State Conference after all three won games over the weekend.
Vassar is 2-0 after beating one of the teams they might expect to challenge them in the Tri State Men’s DII conference, Siena, on Saturday.
Vassar got tries from Joe Simon, Dale Lord, Adam D’Agostino, Eli Vargas, and Zach Rippe in a 31-10 victory.
The USC Gamecocks opened their Southeastern Rugby season with a 43-8 victory over the University of Georgia.
Carolina started well, with speedy sophomore Brett DeBoy scoring early. The Bulldogs responded with a penalty kick when South Carolina was caught offside at their own 22.
With one big weekend in the bag we have several changes in the GRR Men's DII College Rankings.
With #4 Furman, #6 UW-Stout, #7 Vermont, and #11 Illinois State all losing, those teams all drop down and others move up. Expect plenty more drastic changes as teams make their moves. We expect this each year as DII teams are likely to undergo player turnover that affects them more deeply.
Airzona State University's men's rugby program has named the 40 players coming in as their freshman class.
The list includes HS All American Chase Bixby out of Granite Bay, Calif., along with Arizona natives Christopher Bey, who is back from LDS mission, and Ben Shockley. The list of 40 + players includes several high profile players
