GRR: College Men
This is a very exciting weekend in D1A rugby.
Leading the way is likely Life at Lindenwood, which is not a conference game anymore but still a massive rivalry match.
The last two weeks featured over 20 games involving D1A teams and an expansion to the East Coast, which will happen more and more.
We take a look at some of the top performers over the last couple of weeks. Here goes:
Rand Santos, CalSantos orchestrated an impressive showing in Cal's win over UCLA and scored a dynamic try as well.
We made a silly mistake last week but we've fixed it, and we also had to reverse our own logic; let's dive into it.
We dropped Fresno State down below Cal Maritime last week. That was a dumb error—Fresno State had already beaten the Keehaulers. We just over-reacted to a big loss by Fresno, which is something we at GRR World Headquarters have to keep an eye on.
Last week GRR outlined how tight the NCRC is, and maybe a few questions were answered this past week, but not a lot.
Boise State was able to hold off Oregon State 27-22, while Oregon beat Washington 14-12. What that did was this:
Western Washington traveled to Grand Canyon over the weekend in a D1AA/D1A crossover match, and while GCU came away with the win, the Vikings have to feel relatively good about it all.
Led by an impressive game from Eli Ashmann, who scored four tries and set up a fifth, Western actually led fairly late in the game 34-31.
