GRR: College Men
We don't have a ton of moves this week but one or two are consequential.
Well we've been talking about how there's a top tier and a 2nd tier and then a 3rd tier in Men's D2 college rugby, and it's clear to us that is the case.
Fourteen of our Top 20 played, and only one lost. That loss was #15 losing to #10.
Grand Valley State had opened their season in impressive fashion.
Having beaten Great Midwest team Loyola in emphatic fashion the Lakers followed that with two wins this weekend. GVSU beat Notre Dame's 2nds in a close one, and then won their conference game over Calvin College 70-7.
"We got a good team effort in both games," said Head Coach John Mullett.
Well we skipped last week because reasons and so this week we've got data from two weeks with which to adjust the rankings.
And it's interesting because you have to wonder whether some of the changes we made would have been made if we'd gone week-to-week. But we did that at #1.
Week 2 in the Great Midwest Men's D2 Conference sees the top dogs showing their teeth.
Two teams opened their account this week. Northwestern beat Benedictine 36-5 on Sunday, Chicago beat UIC 57-7
Northern Iowa won big again, defeating UW-Milwaukee 95-14 to move to 2-0.
