GRR: St. Joe's Prep
Gregory the Great won the Rugby PA Boys D1 title, beating St. Joe's Prep over the weekend with an exciting finish between two heated rivals.
These two teams played earlier in the season, with St. Joseph's winning 40-33. So it was no surprise that this game was close as well.
With a vocal group of fans from each team, this was a game with a loud atmosphere.
St. Joe's Prep is set to meet LaSalle College HS in the Rugby PA Boys D1 final after both won semifinals over the weekend.
LaSalle beat Berks 24-17. LaSalle led 17-14 before Berks was hit with a yellow card. And yet Berks was able to maintain possession and got a penalty, which they kicks to tie the game.
It will be Doylestown vs Gregory the Great in the final of Rugby PA's Boys HS D1 championship after both teams won their semifinals on Saturday in Malvern, Pa.
The two semis could hardly have been more different.
Rugby Pennsylvania’s playoffs begin and end this weekend with two intense days of competition.
The day starts with Youth semifinals and Junior semifinals.
The boys D2 then comes in with Media vs Berks/West Chester and Indiana vs Blackthorn
At 4-1 Media is the #1 seed.
Gregory the Great, Doylestown, West Allegheny, and St. Joseph's Prep all recorded important victories in Week 4 of the Rugby Pennsylvania's Boys HS league to secure a spot in the state semifinals.
While West Shore didn't make the semis, they also recorded an important victory that potentially boosted their ranking.
