GRR: Rye
Who is leading their conferences or making statements in boys HS rugby this weekend? Let's take a look.
NortheastRye out of New York beat Staples out of Connecticut 51-7.
This was Rye's first home game of the season and they came out firing, getting over the line three times in the first 15 minutes.
Rye HS out of New York logged an impressive road win over the weekend, defeating Jesuit New Orleans 40-17 on a March trip.
The two teams actually played three matches—A side, B side, and freshmen.
""Incredible hospitality from Coach Adam Massey and the Jesuit New Orleans families," said Rye Head Coach James O'Hara. "Top notch."
Rye HS beat Greenwich on the road 12-7 last night.
This was, clearly, a defensive battle and it wasn't until the second half that Greenwich was able to get their lone try.
It was 12-0 at halftime after tries from flanker Andrew Wilmarth and No. 8 Owen Welburn. Archer Fenton converted one of those.
Rye defeated Georgetown Prep 13-0 in very wet conditions. The game was delayed an hour for lightning, but even when the lightning left the rain kept coming.
In a game played as a curtain-raiser for the local Major League Rugby game, Pelham HS defeated Rye HS 27-12 in Rugby NY action.
