Berks County Rugby won its second consecutive RugbyPA Sevens State Championship this past Sunday, beating Downingtown in the championship game.
The RugbyPA Fall 7s season consists of six rounds of tournaments and a final State Championship tournament. Teams accumulated points throughout the season and were then seeded in the final tournament based on those points totals.
Berks County Rugby won their second straight Rugby PA 7s tournament and now go into the state championship weekend with some momentum.
Rugby Pennsylvania's Boys fall 7s promises to be a very intense competition all the way through the championship weekend.
Over this past weekend several teams showed flashed of being able to win the tournament, and while Berks County came away with the honors, LaSalle, Conestoga, Bishop Shanahan, Gregory the Great, Downingtown, and St. Joseph's Prep all were right there.
LaSalle College High School defeated Berks to take the first Rugby Pennsylvania boys 7s tournament of the fall.
Both Berks and LaSalle were undefeated going into the final.
"We certainly made plenty of mistakes," said LaSalle Head Coach Jessica Nedzwecky, "but we can only continue to improve throughout the season, as we did with each game on Sunday."
Doylestown won the Warrior 7s girls bracket in a three-team round-robin Sunday.
