GRR: Rugby Northeast
Roger Williams is enjoying its foray into a new conference, as the Hawks have started 2-0 in the Rugby Northeast, defeating Providence in the opening weekend, and then slamming UMass Lowell 46-12 this past weekend.
The Rugby Northeast Men’s DII conference season kicked off with two-time defending champion Bentley just escaping a tough Bryant College team.
The two teams were tied 5-5 late in the game and Bryant had the ball and were on the attack.
The Rugby Northeast Men's DII College schedule is out, with the promise if yet another very competitive season.
In the fall of 2014, Bentley finished with the best record at 7-1, but were beaten by Southern Connecticut and chased hard by UMass Lowell. Still they won the playoffs and made the national Round of 16. The fall of 2015 promises to be a tough one, too.
Providence College’s success in qualifying for the USA Rugby DII Men’s College 7s championships was celebrated in Rhode Island, but also had a few fans around the country cheering as well.
Stonehill College is heading to the ACRA 7s Championship, having won the Rugby Northeast 7s title last weekend. The tournament host went 6-0 on the day, outscoring opponents 149-47. Stonehill can now turn its attention to returning to the DII ACRA 7s final.
