GRR: Midwest
The Midwest Thunderbirds are on the hunt again. The U23 all-star team is returning to the Las Vegas Invitational and looking to defend its college 7s title. Roger Riley and Steve Murra have also returned as coaches, and noted that this year's competition will produce new challenges.
The Lindenwood University women's team is in the mist of the change. The DI program is NOT moving to DII (contrary to a previous report) but has welcomed a new full-time coach – Billy Nicholas from the Bronx – who only accepted the position two weeks ago. The Missouri side has good infrastructure, however, and Director of Rugby JD Stephenson has been leading the transition.
Divine Savior Holy Angels won the Midwest HS Girls title this past weekend, defeating Catholic Memorial 36-5 in the final.
DSHA has been in recent years, pushed by the likes of Catholic, Lakewood, and others, but this year there was no arguing their power.
