GRR: Men DI Rankings
We didn't think we'd unseat St. Bonaventure for losing to Navy 15-3, but in the end we did.
We did that not because St. Bonaventure lost to a Navy team that has been dominant through the fall; we did it because Brown beat #8-ranked Iona. If we're going to look at a team beating a #8 team and saying "eh, what have you done for me lately?" seems a bit wrong.
Not too many of the higher-ranked teams were in action this past weekend, but other ranked teams were.
Nebraska lost big to Iowa, the Florida team are now in action and Florida beat South Florida, and Princeton lost.
Not a lot of changes in our NCR D1 rankings so we'll be relatively brief.
Iona of course moves ahead of Dartmouth after beating Dartmouth.
Everyone else, for the most part, did as expected.
We think Southern Nazarene is doing well and deserves a bump up. And Michigan beat #20 Notre Dame and moves into that spot.
That's about it.
Should we have moved Life up to #3 or #2?
We thought about it. We thought about it quite carefully. However, while history shouldn't be the be-all when you rank college teams, it's worth noting that Life and Lindenwood have a good rivalry and generally Lindenwood has had the better part of that rivalry. Yes Life beat Lindenwood last year, but Lindenwood beat Life twice after that.
Nothing too shocking in the top 10, and really the top 15 in this week's D1A rankings. Army might slide down further once more teams get going, but right now they and Penn State hover just outside the top 10.
Utah State's fairly emphatic win over an admittedly depleted Colorado gets them into the Top 25. Air Force, which hung tough with CSU, is in, as well.
