GRR: Life University
Life University clinched 1st in the Mid-South Saturday, but it wasn’t exactly easy.
Playing their first conference game on the road, the Running Eagles needed some last-second heroics to score in the final seconds to win the game.
Life University defeated Arkansas State 32-15 in the annual Curt Huckaby Cup match played between the two teams.
The game is played in honor of ASU rugby program founder and first head coach, Curt Huckaby (see details here).
Life has racked up a total of 383 points during their six games so far this season, averaging 64 points a game. Only 19 of those points were taken by Life's opponents.
Atlanta Youth Rugby (AYR) recently held its inaugural banquet in the Piedmont Room at the Park Tavern. Among the 160+ attendees were more than 90 youth players in uniform, from AYR as well as from neighboring clubs from Roswell, Newtown, and Alpharetta.
Life University travels to Arkansas State this weekend to play an exciting matchup between two very strong teams, but this game is more than just a game.
Sure, Life is ranked #4 and Arkansas State #5 by Goff Rugby Report, and sure a big win by one of these teams might have us taking #1, but this game is more about the relationship between the programs.
