One thing was certain as Kutztown and Vassar lined up for their quarterfinal on Sunday: One of last year’s Final Four teams wasn’t returning to Florida this December. Kutztown is familiar with finals. The women’s team made its third consecutive appearance in the MARC championship game, but Saturday’s match finally went Kutztown’s way. After falling behind early on, Kutztown finished with a 45-7 win and first-ever conference title.
Kutztown University weathered a tough first half and two yellow cards to defeat American International College in a non-conference clash between two top colleges Saturday.
It’s a non-conference game that doesn’t mean anything, except it means a lot and no one is backing down.
American International College, ranked #20 by Goff Rugby Report, fresh off an undefeated run in the ECRC, hosts #7 Kutztown, still stung by a close loss to Army that likely cost them the Rugby East title.
