GRR: Ivy League
The Ivy League kicked off in great fashion, as the two women’s varsity teams met in what was likely the toughest game of the regular season. The match was even more special for Brown, not only because it was the Bears’ first as a varsity team (Harvard was christened a year ago) but for the 24-15 win as well.
Columbia and Yale emerged victorious in the opening games of the Men's Ivy League season this weekend.
Wet weather made for low-scoring matches, but perhaps added to the drama.
Columbia took an early 10-0 lead over Brown thanks to a penalty kick from Peter Calello and a try from Ben Keitt, which he scored after Columbia was awarded a free kick off a scrum. Calello converted.
The fall college season is underway and league games are coming soon.
It’s a tough time for many programs as they try to fit in setting up a team for league player, installing the game plan, and also introducing the game to new players.
