GRR: Ivy League
We're down to the DIAA quarterfinals, and by the end of the weekend we will have the final two teams for the May 9 final at Kennesaw State University.
It's a mishmash of teams in the QFs, as some teams qualified last fall, some recently, and some when they were least expected to. Here's a look at the teams, the matchups, and our picks.
Princeton University captured the 2015 Ivy League Women's Seven-a-Side Championship over Brown University, 22-15, in a wide-open display of offense at Rickerson Field on the West Windsor Campus on Saturday.
The surprise of the DIAA playoff picture has to be Yale University, which came into the Ivy League play-ins as the lowest seed - so low, in fact, that they only made the cut because Columbia didn’t want to play in it.
And yet, Yale upset favorites Cornell 34-5 on Saturday, and then defeated Brown 18-13 to take the final Sunday.
It’s play-in time for the Ivy League, as Brown University hosts three other teams in a two-day playoff to see who will represent the conference in the DIAA national playoffs.
