GRR: Herriman
The Ra Puriri Tournament was a huge success in St. George, Utah, giving teams from Utah and Arizona multiple game opportunities.
The games were, for the most part, competitive and the standard high for so early in the season.
Ra Puriri Tournament Scores:
Mountain Ridge won the Utah Youth Rugby Boys Fall Series, getting by Herriman to take the title.
Week 2 in Utah Youth Rugby's fall 7s is in the books with the combined United/Genesis team coming out on top.
Both United/Genesis and Herriman were unbeaten in pool play. Herriman beat Kearns 26-0, Brighton 54-7, and Wasatch 33-5 to win their pool.
This is NOT the final School-team ranking of the year, but it's close.
We have some games still to come, mainly the MIAA playoffs in Massachusetts, but this is generally how we will finish up. As always, games in the HS National Championships carry extra weight, and it's possible a result in there can memory-hole an earlier result.
The Boys HS National Championships sparkled at the end, especially with the Herriman vs St. Ignatius single-school final.
Herriman lost a lead and gained it back to win in dramatic fashion 22-17 after losing the last two finals on the final play. In doing so, Herriman overcame a skilled, smart, and enormously brave St. Ignatius team in the program’s first National Championship.
