The Met New York U23 Selects defeated a combined White Plains team 43-24 in a hastily-organized game Saturday in the New York area.
The Met NY team is comprised of players who played their high school rugby in the New York City area, and have gone on to college either nearby or far away.
Despite the COVID shutdowns, we’ve seen little pockets of rugby spring up around the USA, and one select side is doggedly trying to keep the dream alive.
The Met New York U23s powered by the New York Athletic Club Foundation is looking to get on the field. It’s a group of college-aged players, many of whom have played as teammates or opponents since high school.
The 2020 LoneStarRugby Conference All-Stars representative team selection process will begin November 16 with a trial assembly November 16.
Players who play collegiate rugby in the Lonestar Collegiate Conference are invited to try out. Players should arrive at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas at 8:15AMfor registration. Warmups begin at 9AM sharp.
The Republic of Texas College All-Stars will play the Liberty Conference All-Stars August 10 in the URugby Collegiate All-Star Rugby Cup in Bermuda.
This is in conjunction with the Saracens v USA Islanders game set for the same day at the Bermuda National Sports Centre.
