GRR: Central Washington University
Central Washington pulled off an impressive win over BYU on Saturday, taking down the Cougars 21-12.
It was a windy day and CWU played into the wind in the first half. That, of course, favored BYU to a certain extent, but the wind normally benefits teams that kick and BYU loves to run.
In a game that lived up to the hype #7 Saint Mary’s defeated #8 Central Washington by a single point, 27-26.
Playing in Ellensburg, Wash., Saint Mary’s spent the vast majority of the first 25 minutes inside the CWU 22. They came close to getting a try, getting held up at one point, but CWU’s defense was tenacious.
Central Washington defeated Cal Poly 39-20 Saturday in a game that probably reflected well on both teams.
While CWU was in a situation where they were likely to win from the outset, they weren't able to fully shake Cal Poly and the Mustangs scored two good tries later in the game to stick around.
"Pour of our effort," said Cal Poly Head Coach Chris O'Brien.
Central Washington logged their second-straight victory over a highly-ranked Canadian college, beating this past fall's Canadian national champs University of British Columbia Saturday in Ellensburg.
After a couple of weather cancelations Central Washington got on the field Tuesday night with a trip to University of Victoria in British Columbia.
This was a game postponed from the weekend due to bad weather, and after all of that the Wildcats came away with a 27-22 victory over the Vikes.
