GRR: Bowling Green
In a game that many had labeled as a possible slipup for Bowling Green, Louisville almost pulled it off, eventually going down 22-12 to the MAC Conference leaders.
Bowling Green moved to 3-0 in the MAC with a convincing 73-5 win over Dayton University.
Western Michigan, after losing last week to BGSU, bounced back with a 65-33 defeat of Ohio. The broncos were led by No. 8 and captain Will McNamara, and outside backs Luke Sutherland and Garen Leland.
Bowling Green defeated Western Michigan 39-24 in a typical intense, back-and-forth clash between the two Mid-American Conference rivals.
Bowling Green never trailed in this game, but neither team handled the wind especially well—BGSU outscored Western against the wind 17-7, and the score when WMU was against the wind the score was 22-17 for Bowling Green.
The Mid-American Conference got going this weekend with favored teams victorious.
As has been the case throughout the country, questions remain about which teams can get the numbers to compete. The MAC has started well in that regard with teams able to make their commitments.
Saturday’s Men’s D1 and crossover games provided a few on-paper upsets and close surprises as teams started to get moving after a long layoff.
