GRR: All-Stars
Here are the scores from the Boys brackets at the Midwest Challenge Cup all-star tournament.
The Boys Varsity complete their round-robin games Sunday. Only one more game is slated for JV and the Middle School games are done.
In beating the Illinois Hurricanes and Fox Valley, Indy Speed took the Middle-School crown.
Southern California dominated in the opening day of the Great Northwest Challenge Girls Varsity bracket.
The Griffins shut out Rhinos Training Academy and Montana in their pool games. In the other pool, Northern California ended the day 2-0, but it wasn't easy, as Rugby Oregon pushed them to the limit and, to a lesser extent, the Washington Loggers were tough.
The only major HS all-star tournament West of the Continental Divide kicks off this weekend in Corvallis, Ore, with a massive feast of rugby at the Great Northwest Challenge.
And the tournament is also an interesting experiment to see how splitting off of all-star efforts from their State-Based Rugby Organizations works.
It’s a small tournament, and as such one where almost anything can happen.
The Midwest Rugby Challenge will see two Illinois select teams in the Boys Varsity Bracket, as well as the Indy Speed and Des Moines.
Two all-star tournaments finish off the Regional Cup Tournament series this weekend, with the Great Northwest Challenge in Corvallis, Ore., and the Midwest Challenge Cup in Rockford, Ill.
The two tournaments are very different in size and scope.
