Rudy Scholz Award Finalist Jack Wendling
Jack Wendling was a star for the Chuckanut youth program in northern Washington State before joining Central Washington University.
His grounding in the game at Chuckanut helped make him an instant contributor to the Wildcats, but this year he has taken his game to a new level. Always a strong attacker, Wendling has emerged as a contactn threat to score to back up his superb defensive work and understanding of the game. Normally a center, Wendling has the tackle instincts of a loose forward, and has emerged as a leader as well.
“Jack is one of the most competitive guys we have ever had in our program, he wants to win everything," said CWU Head Coach Todd Thornley. "This drives his daily development into the physical presence he is on both sides of the ball whether its his explosive carries or his consistent decision-making defensively in what is one of the toughest positions to defend on the park. Lastly, what is underrated is Jack can distribute with great fast hands to put others in space and he continuing to improve this skill set. A great student off the field and a leader who connects with everyone in our program so naturally, Jack is an integral part of our program.”
