The USA women's national 7s team were thumped in the final of the Women's Sevens World Series tournament in Atlanta, losing to New Zealand 50-12.
New Zealand were brilliant, savvy, fast, and ferocious in the breakdown and precise in their passing. The Eagles could not get the ball, and, as happened in Saturday's pool game against New Zealand, they could not win the restarts.
The USA is into the final of the Atlanta 7s, riding a determined defensive effort to beat Russia 19-14 and earn a rematch with the only team to beat them at Fifth Third Bank Stadium, New Zealand.
The Eagles have enjoyed two impressive games from Lauren Doyle, who made several key tackles and added a crucial try in the semi.
No possession and no lucky breaks, the USA women were completely and utterly dominated by New Zealand 57-0 at the Atlanta 7s.
