High School Girls
For the fifth year in a row, Divine Savior Holy Angels and Catholic Memorial will meet in the Wisconsin Girls High School State Championship. But there is a whole slate of games ready to take place this Sunday, Oct. 25 in Milwaukee.
There’s always a call for more female coaches, but it's not a problem in the Wisconsin’s girls high school league. There are a slew of women who started their playing careers in Wisconsin and are returning the favor by helping the next generation of high schoolers fall in love with the sport.
The post-season is nearly upon the Wisconsin girls high school league, and out front, as usual, are Divine Savior Holy Angels (DSHA) and Catholic Memorial. The pair compete in different pools; however the Dashers got an inside look at their state rival during the Crusaders’ 67-0 win over the DSHA JV team last week.
The Rugby Oregon Girls 7s season got off to a nice start Saturday at Lentz Park in Portland with the Grackles once again leading the way.
The Grackles dominated in their first two games over the Crubarians and Linn Benton, but had to work a little harder for a 19-15 victory over the Valley Panthers Black team.
Four girls HS teams played a round robin of shortened matches this past weekend at Penn HS in Indiana.
The host team did very well, winning all three games, while Illinois-based Plainfield and Indiana-based Warsaw both lost to Penn, tied each other, and defeated Hamilton, who finished 0-3.
