This is an opinion column by Goff Rugby Report Editor Alex Goff. As HS season wrap up, it’s time for the all-star events, as the newly-named Regional Cup Tournaments are fast approaching.
Four teams remain in the hunt for a New York state Boys DI championship, as the semifinals will be held this weekend.
The DI championship is named the Mike Tolkin Cup, after the current USA Men’s 15s Coach, who coached Xavier HS for many years, and also helped Xavier to a national championship as a player several million years ago.
West End completed an undefeated season Saturday with a last-minute 22-20 victory over local rivals Fort Hunt to win the Rugby Virginia state championship.
So we're not sure how many of you have been waiting on tenterhooks for this ranking, but we can bet that one team is.
St. Ignatius have won Rugby Ohio's Boys DI HS championship, defeating St. Edward 12-5 in the final.
