High School Boys
Granite Bay continued their run of excellent results with a 33-17 win over Jesuit of Sacramento.
"We're big, strong, and fast in our top 23," said Granite Bay Head Coach Chris Miller, who has to take some credit for the Grizzlies' success this season but doesn't seem to want to. "We've got players with high rugby IQ, and we've avoided the injury plague."
Over 150 teams are in action this weekend.
Pennsylvania starts its league season, and so does the Southern California HS club season. We see the first games from Washington, the Maryland IAA, MAVRC, and Maryland in general. Florida comes back from break and makes its final push to the playoffs.
Growing the game is a phrase bounced around in rugby and can mean different things in different circumstances, but one new idea could be a significant catalyst to growing high school rugby.
The new National School 7s tournament to be held in Salt Lake City October 7 and 8 presents a special opportunity to teams around the country.
