Granite Bay Keeps Rolling
Granite Bay continued their run of excellent results with a 33-17 win over Jesuit of Sacramento.
"We're big, strong, and fast in our top 23," said Granite Bay Head Coach Chris Miller, who has to take some credit for the Grizzlies' success this season but doesn't seem to want to. "We've got players with high rugby IQ, and we've avoided the injury plague."
Captain Jeremy Harmer leads a consistently impressive team both with his play and his leadership. Granite Bay continues to be very strong in attack and has defended well.
"We need to get better at open-field kicking and attacking the weak side," added Miller.
Sophomore Frankie Cusano had a big game for Granite Bay as the #1-ranked HS club improved to 6-0.
For Jesuit, center Adam Hammond, scrumhalf Noah Sanchez, and fullback Roanin Krieger led the way. Sanchez scored a try on a quick tap late in the first half to close the gap and put Jesuit back in the game. When Granite Bay pulled away quick tries from flyhalf Fletcher Popp Krieger to once again make it a game. But Granite Bay closed it out.
