The Midwest U23 Women Thunderbirds defeated the Prairie team of Canada's National Women's League 43-24 Saturday as part of the Thunderbirds' tour to Canada.
The teams were very close for much of the game before a speedy and athletic Thunderbirds squad put the game away with three tries in 11 minutes.

In January 2014, Life University announced the addition of Women's Rugby as a varsity sport for the 2014-2015 school year. The success of the two men's rugby teams is well-documented, having won national championships in both the undergraduate intercollegiate division, and the men's club division. Adding women's rugby was a natural progression for Life U's expanding athletics department.
