College Women
Lots of great games are occuring in the women's DI college sphere this weekend, and here's a smattering of the ones worth following.
Like its DI counterpart, the Women’s DII College rankings that will be maintained for the rest of 2015 will only concern fall-based and split-season teams. Those programs playing league matches in both the fall and spring – as well as the fall champion – will carry over to the 2016 spring rankings.
So many great games have occurred since the first Women DI Fall rankings, and some big shifts were needed. There were a handful of cross-conference games that not only provided great competition but also nice contrast.
Indiana and Michigan were both undefeated as they entered last weekend’s match, and had enjoyed some good warm-up matches to prepare for the competitiveness of the Big Ten. Both teams are working with large pockets of young, developing players, which bodes well for the future, but adds some stress to the present.
Hurricane Joaquin forced some cancellations and forfeits in the Mid-Atlantic Rugby Conference (MARC), but four DII women’s games did take place. Out front were division leaders Kutztown and Bloomsburg, which outscored their opponents by a combined 98-0.
