The SFGG men’s club soundly defeated St. Mary’s College of California in a preseason warmup for both teams. SFGG overpowered the Gaels, especially in the first half, as they led 38-0 at halftime. “We had a pretty decent showing after halftime,” said St. Mary’s Head Coach Tim O’Brien. “SFGG is very good.

The University of Arizona men’s rugby team has some work to do in order to get an invitation to the DIA playoffs. Since the Wildcats play in the PAC Rugby Conference, where four of the six teams involved are in the Varsity Cup, they don’t really have a DIA conference to play in.

Below is a list of USA Rugby's men's collegiate championships, as well as some of the privately run national-level competitions.
USA Rugby ran a DI championship through 2010, and then split DI into DIA and DIAA. Some of the teams in DIA and DIAA have opted out of those playoffs to play in the Varsity Cup.

It may be cold in Provo but rugby is on the minds of those at BYU as the two-time Varsity Cup-winning Cougars look to the 2015 season. As usual, playing at home will have to wait until late in the season, with Brigham Young’s first right games on the road.
