College Men
Penn State Men’s Rugby opens up their new era with a game at Mount St. Mary’s and this is with new Head Coach Zac Mizell.
A star at Arkansas State, helping them to a D1A final in 2012, and later capped by the USA 7s team, Mizell has coached at Life, University of Texas, and, most recently, Adrian.
We are cooking now.
This weekend we have close to 40 D1-level men's college rugby games. Of those, about 16 are ranked teams against ranked teams. Not that that means an awful lot as we're talking about four different rankings, but still. Here's how that shakes out:
CRAA D1A Ranked vs CRAA D1A Ranked: Just one game, Mary Washington at Army
The first two weeks of action was relatively quiet but we did get some results that showed us where we have it right, and where we have it wrong.
Expect much more action to come in the next few weeks. But we didn't see anything that blows up the rankings ... not yet. We do expect some significant shifting in the 25-35 rankings.
The Allegheny Conference opened its men’s D2 action this past weekend, getting a bit of a head start on the rest of D2.
Defending national champs IUP opened their conference season with a fairly comfortable 44-12 win over Slippery Rock.
IUP Head Coach Seth Erwin has several returning starters on which to draw so really his lineup decisions were more about tinkering.
As we said in our opening rankings, expect some changes.
