Salisbury University is now 4-0 in the Capital Men’s DII college conference after upending rivals 36-13 on Saturday.
It was a closer game than the score suggests, with the halftime score being 13-10.
But Salisbury co-captain Patrick Mullens said the key for his team was the kicking game.
There are few DII college rivalries as intense as Towson v Salisbury.
Both programs have challenged for a national title, although only Salisbury has won any, and the two teams seem to take great relish in bringing everything they can when they face off.
Towson University, ranked #5 by Goff Rugby Report, put in an impressive performance Saturday in defeating 10th-ranked Georgetown 43-7 in Capital Conference play.
The two highly-rated Men’s DII college programs knew this was a key game in figuring out who might win the conference, and played like it.
In Week Two of the Capital Men’s DII College conference, the top teams won once again.
Salisbury was winning convincingly against George Mason when GMU forfeited in the second half. It was a blowout for Towson, too, 81-3 over UMBC. Meanwhile Georgetown won 41-0 over Johns Hopkins.
