GRR: Kingfishers
In a somewhat bizarre final, St. Martin's Kingfishers defeated St. Thomas Aquinas 26-19 to win the Kansas State championships.
This was the third time these two teams had met this season; the first game was a fairly convincing win for Aquinas; the second was a close victory for STA. But this third time the game went to Kingfishers.

Over and above the game, we now have a bona-fide rivalry. Kingfishers has been building and in fact beat Aquinas for the Kansas state championship last year. Of course, that's just one year, and if you want a rivalry, you need staying power.
The top teams in Kansas, St. Martin's and St. Thomas Aquinas, both put down strong results against tough teams over the weekend.
St. Martin's visited 901 in Germantown, Tenn. and came away 44-7 winners.
Facing an athletic and physically strong 901 side St. martin's had to work hard to cap off their scoring chances. But they did that, taking a 25-0 lead into the break.
The Kansas City Jr. Blues faced off with St. Martin’s Kingfishers this past weekend in Fort Scott, Kans. and this game ended with a solid win for Kingfishers.
On a very wet field in The Rugby Garden in Wylie, TX, Woodlands of the Houston area held off St. Martin's out of Kansas 15-8 in a high-rankings showdown Saturday.
