In the meeting between the top two teams in the NCR D1 Liberty Conference, Brown encountered one of their toughest opponents, but was still able to pull out a 24-15 win.
AIC has been very good at making life difficult for their opposition and came into the game unbeaten in-conference, as did Brown. Now they slip to 5-1.
On a cold and rainy afternoon in Minneapolis, the Iowa State Cyclones defeated the Minnesota Gophers 57-7 in Heart of America action.
The game started with ISU stealing the opening kickoff, running through the phases quickly, and putting senior prop Nolan LeBreck in under the sticks. Senior flyhalf Justin Johnson added the extras to make it 7-0 two minutes into the game.
Loyola and Northwestern both won in the Great Midwest to move to 4-0.
Loyola won big over Illinois-Chicago, taking the game 62-10.
For Northwestern, they took on University Chicago, a team that lost to Loyola by a single point.
So how would the Wildcats fair?
It was almost as close, with Northwestern edging Chicago 14-12.
The Big Rivers remains a somewhat muddled conference, especially in the West, after this weekend's results.
Western Washington opened their NCRC season with a bit of a statement result, shutting out Boise State 55-0.
Boise State is suffering from some injuries, but this was still a head-turning scoreline.
Former Canada U18 and WWU freshman George Pritchard scored two tries and added five conversions in his conference debut, making his tally 20 points on the day.
