People like to call the CRC 7s tournament CRCs (See-Are-Sees), plural, not the CRC, and while that used to be a bit weird when it was one tournament, these days it makes much more sense—eight tournaments, four for men, four for women, and almost 300 games played over the weekend make it about as plural as you can get.

We’re down to four teams in the CRC Men’s Premier bracket, with St Bonaventure, Belmont Abbey, Wheeling, and Queens making the semifinals.

Wheeling’s speed and team unity saw them blow past Babson 35-0 and defeat UMW 31-10. The game against Mary Washington was close for a while …

The CRC runs competitions for 144 teams this coming weekend.

We already looked at the Men’s Premier, which is the largest bracket with 32 teams. Every other bracket has 16 teams—seven brackets, 112 teams. It’s massively ambitious and it’s pretty impressive to run a tournament of that size (there are a few that do this, and one or two are bigger, but it’s still pretty big).

The CRC 7s is set for this weekend and the Men’s Premier Division is back with 32 teams.

The teams come from four divisions: D3, D1AA, NCR D1, and D1A. Interestingly, no D2 teams are there. But we do have Loyola of Maryland and Babson, both D3 teams.

The Cardinals Conference and the Southern Rugby Conference have officially announced a merger, and will operate as the Southern Rugby Conference for the immediate future.

This merger is one that commissioners Thomas Trumps and Jim Wiseman have been discussing for some time and now is the time to finalize it.
