Dublin, Ohio—The stage is set for the 2024 Big Ten Universities Rugby Conference Championship tournament beginning on Saturday, October 26, 2024, with higher seeds hosting semifinal matches in both the Championship Cup and Bowl brackets.
The MARC had its surprises in the first round of the conference's men's D2 college playoffs.
After GRR went out on a limb saying Scranton was the team to beat in last week's video, and then #8 seed Towson promptly took up the challenge. It was a hard-nosed game and Towson was certainly up for it.
Well the results in the Rugby East have, in fact, shaken up the conference a little bit.
Penn State, which we at GRR have been saying are improving, ran out to a big early lead and cruised to a 50-39 upset win over Queens University Charlotte. This handed the Royals their first conference loss.
Thomas More and Iowa Central CC are through to the Big Rivers semifinals as both teams won this weekend.
