The Girls High School National Invitational Championship (NIC) will award two titles in 2016 and going forward: one to a single-school champion, and one to a club champion. Two weeks ago, the single schools announced their intentions regarding 2016 nationals (read more), and now the NIC Club Committee is releasing details about its event.

SEATTLE, Wash. - Rugby Washington (Rugby WA) has announced the complete staff for the 2015-2016 Girls High School Loggers All-Stars program. Led by Head Coach Sharon Blaney, two-time World Cup USA Lock, the leadership group of Kellen Gordon, Carly MacKinnon, Marty Quick, and Carrie White will be looking to continue the development of the female rugby athletes in Washington State.

The National High School Girls Invitational Championship is following the boys’ lead, and dividing along club and single-school lines for 2016. The effort is being driven by Divine Savior Holy Angels coach John Klein and Catholic Memorial coach John Waliszewski, who are founding members of the invitational’s management group, the National Girls Coaches Committee (NGCC).

Grandville successfully defended its Michigan state championship, defeating Traverse City 56-0 for its second-straight title. The Bulldogs are now 20-0 over the previous two fall seasons.

The Grackles were the favorites heading into the Rugby Oregon girls high school 7s championship last weekend, but the reigning fall and summer 7s champion had played some close games during its undefeated season. To boot, the Grackles’ best player – Sui A’au – was absent for an official visit tot Lindenwood University.
